Welcome to the eMuCollections User Guide!
eMuCollections is a comprehensive museum collections management system designed to streamline your daily operations—from the moment an object enters the building to its exhibition, loan, or final deaccession.
The Dashboard
Section titled “The Dashboard”The Dashboard is your central hub for managing tasks, reviewing system alerts, and getting a high-level view of your museum’s activity.
Key Features
Section titled “Key Features”- Quick Metrics: View real-time statistics on the total number of items, active loans, and pending conservation treatments.
- Recent Activity: A feed showing the latest updates to collection records, making it easy to see what your team has been working on.
- Task Review Queue: If your museum utilizes approval workflows (e.g., for Accessions or Deaccessions), pending tasks assigned to your role will appear here for quick review and approval.
Technical Capabilities
Section titled “Technical Capabilities”eMuCollections is designed as a modern, secure foundation tailored for museum professionals:
- Accessible Anywhere: A responsive web application ensuring a smooth user experience on any device.
- Data Security: Strong data isolation ensures your museum’s records are strictly separated and secure.
- Advanced Discovery: An integrated, typo-tolerant search engine provides instantaneous discovery across your entire catalogue.
Cultural Protocols
Section titled “Cultural Protocols”A core feature of eMuCollections is its deep integration with Cultural Protocols. The system allows you to define strict viewing and access rules (e.g., Men’s Business, Women’s Business, Secret/Sacred, Deceased Persons) and apply them to specific Items, Accessions, or Contacts.
When a record is protected by a Cultural Protocol, the system automatically redacts sensitive information (images, titles, descriptions) across all views and search results unless the active user explicitly holds the required permission assigned by an Administrator.
